Facts / Grocery shop in a small village, Kaloboyei Village, approximately 30 km north of Kakuma town. The store is made of mud and tin and its openings is covered with bars. The assortment is very limited. It was raining heavily outside and a large part of the shop owners family and some customers sought shelter inside the “back room”. The old man in the picture is the father in law of the woman who owns the store, Mrs. Arukudim. Danida supports a project that help the host community (the surrounding community to Kakuma Refugee Camp). Since it is a very poor area, it can cause conflicts between local residents and people in the refugee camp, if the locals not are getting some help. Therefore Danida has given some micro loans, which makes it easier to start up a such a small shop as seen in the picture.
